An Apple Tree Statistics do not relate to individuals. Think of an apple tree full of apples. Using stats, one could easily predict when an individual apple would be ripe and fall off the tree, but some apples will fall off before they are ripe. Some will hang on and hang on. No one could point out a single apple and accurately predict it's fate from statics alone. Furthermore, if one apple can hang on and hang on, then all the apples have what’s potentially needed to just hang on. You see the apples are all of the same species. Why do doctors, acting as authority figures, tell patients they have six weeks to live. Good patients do what the doctor says, they gone home and die in six weeks like they were told to do. A ResPat (Responsible Participant) does not go home and die in six weeks. A ResPat goes home and fights for their life. Do not be a patient - be a ResPat. These concepts are not my own, they were shamelessly lifted from "Peace, Love and Miracles" by Bernie Siegel, MD. |
