The Gift I cannot recall if this lesson is buried in another lesson or not. Even so, it bears repeating again to stand on it’s own. On one trip to MD, Audrey met a lady in the MRI waiting room. As I was in the MRI she told Audrey her story. She had been given 3 weeks to live on two separate occasions. Her breast cancer spread to her brain, her kidneys and her pancreas. She insisted on chemo and to everyone’s amazement, the tumors began to go away, but not without taking her kidneys leaving her in need of a kidney transplant. A kidney transplant requires an exact match. Very difficult, if not next to impossible, to find in the general population. Doctors usually check offspring first. In this case her grown daughter was an exact match and the transplant was performed. What’s noteworthy is her daughter was adopted at age 2. |
